Villa Filanda Antonini Artists Residency launches the Spring Open Call to select 1-2 professionals, designers, or artists for a two-month residency in spring 2025. The Open Call aims to collect proposals and art projects relevant to the theme "Nourish," focusing on art practices to feed, to care for the environment and people. The term "Nourish" derives from the Latin verb "nūtrīre," meaning "to feed" or "to care for." The goal of the residency is to foster togetherness through a participative workshop and an interactive art installation/project that actively engages the local community. The mission is to create "food for thought" through artistic practices that share knowledge, critical awareness, and inspire tangible actions to care for the people and the environment.
Enrollment period:
The deadline to apply is September 8, 2024, 23:59 CEST.
To whom it is addressed:
Professionals, designers, and artists who have completed training and are not currently residing in Italy.
Grant:
The residency is fully funded. Villa Filanda Antonini, with support from Culture Moves Europe, covers mentoring, accommodation, outward and return trip, production costs. Also offered is a fixed amount of 25 euros per day per participant, for a total of 1'525 euros for 61 days of residency.
When:
The residency begins on January 31, 2025, and ends on March 31, 2025. Each participant must spend at least 43 days, 70% of their time, at Villa Filanda Antonini.

An updated Portfolio, Curriculum Vitae and Project Proposal must be submitted for evaluation purposes.
Selection criteria:
A multidisciplinary jury will evaluate the applications to select 1-2 candidates.
Each application will be evaluated based on these criteria:
• Relevance of the Project’s Proposal to the theme "Nourish.”
• Structure of the Project’s Proposal: timeline, methodology, and clarity of objectives.
• Relevance of the Curriculum and the Portfolio to the theme.
• Experience in designing and implementing laboratories/workshops.
About Villa Filanda Antonini -VFA-
VFA located in Villorba, Italy, is a cultural project housed in a former silk mill. VFA aims to investigate the material and immaterial specificities of northeastern Italy through the languages of contemporary art.
VFA hosts a residency program open to artists and professionals of all disciplines. Besides that, VFA encourages local people's involvement in residents' art processes through events such as exhibitions, talks, concerts, and workshops.
VFA is the first project supported by the Arper Feltrin Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in 2021 at the behest of the Feltrin family, founders of the design company Arper.
